Manufacturing Engineer
Key Objectives of this Role:
- Hands-On CAD Design Creation: Create detailed 2D and 3D designs for complex projects using CAD software, with a focus on practical implementation on the shop floor.
- Field Testing and Validation: Collect information and validate designs by performing test fits and measurements directly in the manufacturing environment. Make necessary adjustments based on real-world conditions.
- Direct Collaboration: Work closely with team members on the shop floor to establish timelines, budgets, and hands-on problem-solving strategies.
- Industry Standards Application: Apply knowledge of industry standards, engineering principles, mathematics, and materials in real-time manufacturing scenarios.
- Innovative Solutions Development: Analyze data and situations on the ground to develop and implement innovative solutions that enhance manufacturing processes and product quality.
- Stay Updated: Continuously stay updated on industry trends and engineering standards to apply the latest techniques and technologies in practical settings.
- Production Support: Provide immediate support to the production team, ensuring programs and designs are correct, feasible, and delivered in a timely manner.
- Documentation Creation: Create detailed product layouts, NC files, and other necessary documentation, ensuring they are practical and directly applicable for the production floor.
- Change Management: Manage internal CAD change management processes, including understanding and implementing customer change management systems.
- SolidWorks PDM Development: Develop and manage SolidWorks PDM, ensuring it meets the practical needs of production.
- Quality Initiatives: Actively support quality initiatives, conducting on-site inspections to ensure products conform to specifications and customer expectations.
- Customer Interaction: Work with customers and customer care as a direct resource on product questions and quality concerns, providing practical solutions and improvements.
- Team Communication: Maintain strong communication with the Senior Design Engineer and Production Manager to ensure parts are machined accurately and deadlines are met.
- Additional Duties: Perform other hands-on duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- SolidWorks Expertise: Proficient in working with SolidWorks Design Software, with a focus on practical application.
- Organizational and Creativity Skills: Excellent organizational skills, creativity, and strong attention to detail in a hands-on environment.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrated success in independent problem-solving and the ability to make on-the-spot decisions.
- Instruction Following: Able to thoroughly follow instructions and adapt to changes in a fast-paced environment.
- Practical Experience: Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with SolidWorks Design Software and PDM.
- Shop Drawings and Process Flows: Experience creating shop drawings and understanding process flows, with a focus on practical implementation.
- Communication Skills: Strong communication skills, and the ability to work directly with team members and customers.
- Industry Experience: 2+ years of hands-on experience in the automotive or related industry.
