421A Heavy Equipment Mechanic

We have current opportunities available for 421A Heavy Equipment Mechanics for our equipment maintenance and repair shops located within the Hamilton/Brantford/Niagara/Kitchener-Waterloo Region.

Our paving division is a part of our large vertically integrated heavy civil infrastructure and development company with over 50 years of expertise.

We specialize in a wide range of heavy civil construction services and material products. In addition to the heavy civil construction company, we own and operate, asphalt cement terminal and Emulsion Plant, a number of pits, quarries and asphalt plants, residential construction business, and golf course.

Since 1964, we are proud to continue as a family-owned and operated entity, successfully executing its vision, through on time and on budget execution and completion of its projects to the satisfaction of our customers.

What’s involved?

Reporting directly to the Shop Foreman/Supervisor, the role involves maintaining and repairing equipment in the company’s maintenance and repair shop and making field service calls to repair, troubleshoot, adjust, overhaul and maintain mobile heavy-duty construction equipment e.g. bulldozers, loaders, graders, asphalt rollers, asphalt/concrete paving machines, excavators, heavy trucks, etc. on construction sites.

-Full-time days

-Requires travel to project sites as required to perform equipment service and repair

-Work may involve weekends and overtime as required.

-Willing to train apprentice mechanics

-Required to join the Union

What’s required?

  • 421A Heavy Equipment Technician Certification
  • 3 – 5 years related experience preferred
  • Mobile field service and repair experience
  • A valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract
  • Understanding of electrical, electronic, hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic systems and components
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems
  • Comfort using a computer, the internet, and other electronic resources
  • Mechanical and mathematic aptitude
  • Physically fit
  • Team player
  • Must have own tools


What’s nice to have?

  • Experience with CAT equipment, Kenworth trucks
